To be certified, manufacturers’ products undergo testing by independent laboratories under contract to AHRI. Equipment and components are evaluated using the appropriate industry standard to certify that manufacturers’ published performance ratings are accurate.  Only upon performance verification can manufacturers apply the AHRI Certified marks to the certified product to serve as visual statements of conformance.

Certified equipment is listed in the AHRI Directory of Certified Product Performance (www.ahridirectory.org), the trusted source for performance certified equipment This online, real-time database allows you to search by manufacturer, product lines, and certified ratings, to get the information you need, when you need it.

How can I be assured my split central air conditioner or heat pump system is a certified match?

If you have a split air conditioner or air-source heat pump system, the two units that make up your system must be listed together in the AHRI Directory of Certified Product Performance for the AHRI Certified mark on the units to be valid. To check, ask your air conditioning installer or technician to provide you with either an AHRI Certified Reference Number or an AHRI Certificate of Product Ratings.

The AHRI Certified Reference Number is your system’s unique identifier in the directory and can be entered to pull up your system’s certified efficiency ratings. The certificate provides a hard copy of the AHRI Certified Reference Number and the system’s certified efficiency ratings, which can be used to obtain utility rebates and tax credits.
