Building Codes

Building Codes are standards that can be implemented by federal, state, county, and municipal governments to establish minimum efficiency and safety requirements for commercial and residential buildings.

While state and municipal governments are permitted to establish local building codes, they are preempted from exceeding federally established efficiency standards. It is important to understand the different codes and levels of compliance for each area, and AHRI is committed to educating its members and ensuring that building codes reflect both industrial and environmental needs and realities.
