The challenge of climate change affects the HVACR and water heating industry in a variety of ways. On the domestic front, Congress has considered “cap and trade,” yet has not been able to pass comprehensive legislation. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been involved in a rulemaking that would mandate restriction of emissions from large source emitters, and internationally, through the Kyoto and Montreal Protocol negotiations, governments are looking for ways to reduce emissions. AHRI is active on all of these fronts.
