Section Scopes

Heat transfer devices of the type generally used in mechanical refrigeration as outlined in the subsection scopes.


Air Cooled and Evaporative Condensers Subsection Scope
Air cooled refrigerant condensers, remote type, which consists of a condensing coil, a means for air circulation, means for air circulation (including drive if furnished), frame and enclosure.

Evaporative condensers which consist of a condensing coil, spray system and pump (if furnished), a means for air circulation (including drive if furnished), frame and enclosure.


Liquid to Liquid Heat Exchangers Subsection Scope
Heat transfer devices used to exchange heat between two fluid streams that are single phase liquids:

1. Plate-type heat exchangers
2. Shell-and-tube heat exchangers, shell-and-U-tube heat exchangers and shell-and-coil heat exchangers
3. Tube-in-tube heat exchangers

Liquid to Refrigerants Heat Exchangers and Liquid Receivers Subsection Scope

1. Shell-and-tube, shell-and-U-tube, tube-in-tube, and shell-and-coil condensers
2. Shell-and-tube, shell-and-U-tube, tube-in-tube, and shell-and-coil liquid coolers
3. Liquid suction heat exchangers
4. Liquid receivers
5. Plate-type heat exchangers

Unit Coolers Subsection Scope

1. Unit coolers for refrigeration (all types)
2. Factory assembled, refrigeration type, finned gravity coils
