Standard 550/590 Scope
This standard establishes a single set of testing and rating requirements for determining capacities, energy efficiencies (power input per ton, EER), water pressure drop, IPLV (integrated part load value), and NPLV (non-standard part load value) for water chilling packages using the vapor compression cycle; whereby, equipment performance ratings can be compared from product to product. The standard applies to chilling packages including one or more hermetic or open drive compressors (centrifugal, rotary screw, scroll, reciprocating, or other types), equipped with either water-cooled, air-cooled, evaporative-cooled condensers or supplied without a condenser.

AHRI 560-2000: Absorption Water Chilling and Water Heating Packages
Standard 560-2000 Scope
This standard establishes a single set of testing and rating requirements for determining capacities, water pressure drops, integrated part load values (IPLV's) and application part load values (APLV's) for absorption water-chilling and water-heating packages; whereby, equipment performance ratings can be compared from product to product. This standard applies to single-effect steam and hot fluid operated water chilling units, double-effect steam and hot fluid operated water chilling units, and double-effect direct-fired (natural gas, oil, LP gas) water chilling/heating units. Also included are multiple-effect and multi-loop cycle absorption water chilling/heating units
AHRI Standard 1280-2014
Standard 1280 Scope
This standard applies to commercial and industrial Water-cooled Chillers used for refrigerating or air-conditioning of spaces, as defined in Section 3 of this standard and covered by ANSI/AHRI Standards 550/590 (I-P) and 551/591 (SI), Performance Rating of Water Chilling Packages Using the Vapor Compression Cycle. This standard establishes methods for determining the sound power ratings of commercial and industrial Water-cooled Chillers.

Section Scope

This section applies to factory-designed and prefabricated vapor compression refrigeration water chilling packages including one or more hermetic or open drive compressors (centrifugal, rotary screw, scroll, reciprocating, or other types), equipped with either water-cooled, air-cooled, evaporative-cooled condensers or supplied without a condenser. This section also covers water chilling packages with air or water-cooled heat reclaim condensers.
