Program Scope

  • Electric Storage Water Heaters with energy input ratings less than or equal to 12 kilowatts and has a storage capacity of not less than 20 gallons nor more than 120 gallons, and is designed to heat and store water at a thermostatically controlled temperature less than 180ºF [82ºC].
  • Heat Pump Water Heaters that use electricity as the energy source, are designed to heat and store water at a thermostatically controlled temperature of less than 180°F [82°C], have a maximum current rating of 24 amperes for an input voltage of 250 volts or less, and a storage capacity of not less than 20 gallons nor more than 120 gallons. Auxiliary water heating electric heat pumps with maximum current ratings of 24 amperes for an input voltage of 250 volts or less, intended for connection to an existing water heater or storage tank installation.
  • Gas Storage Water Heaters with energy input ratings less than or equal to 75,000 Btu/h, has a storage capacity of not less than 20 gallons nor greater than 100 gallons, and designed to heat and store water at a thermostatically controlled temperature less than 180ºF [82ºC].
  • Gas Instantaneous Water Heaters with energy input greater than 50,000 Btu/h but less than 200,000 Btu/h, designed to deliver water at a controlled temperature less than 180ºF [82ºC], and with a storage capacity of less than 2 gallons.
  • Oil Storage Water Heaters with energy input less than or equal to 105,000 Btu/h and has a storage capacity of 50 gallons or less.
  • Electric Instantaneous Water Heaters with energy input ratings less than or equal to 12 kilowatts.
