Meeting Highlights

Sunday, November 13

The Leadership Forum’s opening session will feature a video report of recent association activities and future plans from each of our four industry sectors and certification teams. AHRI’s legal, legislative, regulatory, and international staff also will provide updates on developments affecting our industry at the state, federal, and international levels. Please plan to join us for this informative traditional Leadership Forum kickoff.

Pull on your boots and join friends, colleagues, and AHRI staff at the “Don’t Mess with Texas” Welcome Reception and Dinner as we kick off the AHRI Leadership Forum! Don’t miss the opportunity to ride a mechanical bull, sip whiskey while sampling cigars, participate in axe throwing or cornhole competitions, and enjoy the sounds of a local country music star! The reception will be hosted at Henry’s Hollow. Dress is casual, so feel free to pack your cowboy boots and hats and come prepared to have some fun! The event terrain will feature some grassy areas, so please avoid shoes with heels.

    Monday, November 14

Join AHRI Chairman Ron Duncan for the Annual Chairman's Business Meeting Breakfast, during which he will report on the state of the association and present AHRI Industry Awards. Following the awards, Ron will welcome keynote speaker Peter Zeihan, a world-renowned geopolitical strategist. Peter combines an expert understanding of demography, economics, energy, politics, technology, and security to help others best prepare for an uncertain future.

Global bottlenecks, equipment availability, labor shortages and high fuel costs have continued to plague global business. International tariffs and trade deals complicate future business planning. Join AHRI Director of International Affairs, Michael LaGiglia, and a panel of business experts as they tackle these topics and forecast the continued impact of these issues on American business and beyond.

Join friends, colleagues, and AHRI staff at the “Texas State Fair” reception and dinner! Play fair games, have your fortune told, and indulge in your favorite fair food as we continue to network during the Leadership Forum! Be sure to stick around until the end because you won’t want to miss our grand finale! The reception will be hosted at Golf Meadows. Dress is casual; please wear comfortable shoes as this reception is located in a grassy area.

      Tuesday, November 15

Join incoming chairman Kevin Wheeler (A. O. Smith Corporation) for the Incoming Chairman's Luncheon and Sports Awards, during which Kevin will outline plans for his tenure as AHRI Chairman. Following his address, the winners of the Golf Tournaments and Rees Scholarship 5k will be announced. After the awards, Kevin will welcome keynote speaker Chris Bashinelli, National Geographic young explorer and host of the PBS show “Cross-Cultural Expert,” who will use his unapologetic energy, humor, and compassion to impart the tools necessary to empower the audience to strengthen relationships, and help organizations ignore the noise, step outside of their comfort zones, and blow past their goals.

Party control of Congress and the White House have an outsize impact on our industry’s legislative and regulatory priorities. While the White House remains in Democratic hands, Republicans appear poised to gain control of at least one house of Congress following the November 8 elections. Join this session to learn how the election results are likely to impact not only our initiatives, but also those of the President as he faces a different-looking Congress.

As AHRI continues to expand its presence and influence around the world, join in this session to learn how this expansion is facilitating our ongoing effort to increase the use and reach of AHRI’s standards and certification programs across the globe.

Join colleagues during the closing luncheon of the Leadership Forum as we welcome keynote speaker Chris Stirewalt, author, political editor, podcast host and former Digital Politics Editor for the Fox News Channel, and one of the liveliest commentators covering politics today. Chris will deliver his candid and straightforward analysis of the current political climate, the role of the media, and the impact of the 2022 midterm elections on the political climate, the economy, and the perception of America in the world.

In 2018, the AHRI Board of Directors implemented a significant change to the structure of the association. Known as “AHRI Reinvent,” its purpose was to improve operating efficiency, collaboration, and reduce the burden on member resources. Since then, this model has been tested by a global pandemic, supply chain crises, political changes, and a shift to a remote or semi-remote workplace. In this session, attendees are invited to engage in an interactive discussion with AHRI COO John Lanier and Vice President of Sector Services Bill McQuade to examine the successes and opportunities resulting from AHRI Reinvent, along with results of a member survey on the initiative, and to help us with its continuous improvement. Don’t miss this opportunity to help make your association the best it can be.
