Accreditation and Partnerships

ANSI

The American National Standards Institute, ANSI (www.ansi.org), is a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting the U.S. voluntary standards and conformity assessment system and strengthening its impact, both domestically and internationally. ANSI is the U.S. national standards body and a member of ISO, IEC, and other international and regional standards organizations.

The AHRI standards development process is accredited by ANSI, with the result that AHRI can create standards that carry the American National Standard (ANS) designation. This designation means that users of the standard are assured that the standard has been developed under a process that conforms to certain requirements including adherence to globally accepted principles of openness, lack of dominance, balance, coordination and harmonization.

AHRI is audited by ANSI on a regular basis to ensure continued compliance with ANSI requirements and to maintain the ANSI accreditation.

SCC

The Standards Council of Canada, SCC (www.scc.ca), is the Canadian national standards body and a member of ISO, IEC, and other international and regional standards organizations.

AHRI is accredited by SCC to develop National Standards of Canada (NSC). The AHRI standards process includes development and review by Canadian and U.S. stakeholders. Through publication of joint ANS and NSC standards, AHRI supports harmonization across borders.

AHRI is audited by SCC on a regular basis to ensure continued compliance with SCC requirements and to maintain the SCC accreditation.

AHRI is required by the SCC to make all standards intended to become National Standards of Canada available for a 60-day public review. The current AHRI work program, including the development of National Standards of Canada is found here, and those future NSC currently open for public review is found here.
