General Information

The Rees Foundation accepts applications year-round, and has two review deadlines

• Fall Semester Applications: October 1
• Spring Semester Applications: June 1
• Scholarship money will go to the school’s accounting department and will be credited to the student’s account
• Scholarship money may not be used for more than two semesters
• Unused scholarship money shall be returned to the Rees Foundation
• Recipients will receive a free Ready to Work test

You may now submit your Rees Scholarship application and transcript online through our website. If the school is unable to submit an official electronic transcript, please have them send a sealed official transcript to us via traditional mail to the following address:

Rees Scholarship Foundation — HVACR and Water Heating Technician Program

Eligibility

Must be enrolled in an HVACR training program at an institutionally accredited school.

• Official transcripts (from high school, college, or university) sealed or provided directly by the school

Rees Scholarship Foundation — Veterans Program

Eligibility

Must be a veteran enrolled in an HVACR training program at an institutionally accredited school.

Requirements

• Completed application form (Background questions, 500-word essay, two recommendation letters, copy of DD214)
• Official transcripts (from high school, college, or university) sealed or provided directly by the school

Donald L Frendberg Program

Eligibility

Must be enrolled in an HVACR training program at an institutionally accredited school in the state of Florida.

Clifford H. "Ted" Rees, Jr. Scholarship Foundation SkillsUSA Scholarship

The Clifford H. “Ted” Rees, Jr. Scholarship Foundation, an AHRI Charitable Foundation, in partnership with SkillsUSA, is proud to offer eight one-time, merit based $2,500 scholarships to SkillsUSA students who are currently enrolled in HVACR or a general construction program and who will be pursuing college/postsecondary career training in the HVACR industry. The scholarship is intended to provide tuition support in the 2023/2024 school year.

Applications must be submitted via the online form to the national office of SkillsUSA for review and determination by midnight EDT April 30. Recipients will be informed on May 15.

Requirements:

To apply for the Clifford H. “Ted” Rees, Jr. Scholarship Foundation SkillsUSA Scholarship, applicants:

• Must be a SkillsUSA member
• Must be must be currently enrolled in an HVACR or General Construction program
• Must be planning to study HVACR at the college/postsecondary level in the 2023-2024 school year
• Must submit a letter of recommendation from their HVACR instructor
• Must submit a current resume with their application

The award will be based upon:

• The merit of the content answering the essay questions “Why did you want to pursue a career in the HVAC industry?” (400 – 500 words).
• Proficiency of the SkillsUSA Framework skills demonstrated throughout the application, resume, and recommendation letter.

In addition, consideration will also include:

• Did the student compete in a SkillsUSA competition at the local, state, or national level?
• If so, what contest?
• Did the student earn a gold, silver or bronze medal?
• If the contest was not HVAC, but instead a leadership or occupationally related contest, include a written statement as to how the contest relates to an HVAC career (250 words max).

Awardees of the scholarship must submit their 1st semester tuition invoice from their postsecondary education program to receive scholarship funds. Funds will be distributed directly to the postsecondary institution.

Process

All applicants will be screened based on the eligibility requirements stated above. A fair, objective, consistent, and equitable process will be used to narrow the field of candidates to the desired number of finalists.

The Rees Foundation forwards a list of qualified applicants to the Review Committee. In awarding scholarships, the Review Committee will consider the nominee's career objectives and the extent to which that individual is committed to a career in the HVACR industry.

The Rees Foundation will notify scholarship recipients by email.
